What is a domain name ?

Domain name is a unique address of a computer on the internet, made up of three parts: (1) name of the entity, followed by (2) type of the entity, followed by, (3) entity's geographical location. Domain names provide an easy way to remember internet address which is translated into its numeric address (IP address) by the domain name system (DNS).

What is it used for ?

Domain names were created to make IP, or Internet Protocol, addresses more human-friendly.

Commerscale offers free *.mycommerscale.com subdomain with each store. It is configured automatically for you when you open your account. You can change it to any other free *.mycommerscale.com subdomain available you want. However, we recommend using your own personal domain name.
