What is a URL mapping and what is it used for ?

URL Mapping allows people to create special url on their website which could be redirected to the original URL where the content exists. URL mappings are especially designed to provide language-dependent (if the site has multiple languages) custom URL (URL part) for a content resource.

For example:

I want http://mystore.com/promo1 to be a valid URL because by default it is not. And, I want this URL to redirect to a specific page, http://mystore.com/pages/promotion-2017-01. In order to do so, so I will create a URL mapping from /promo1 to /pages/promotion-2017-01.
